Abnormal load expected to cause delays on Dorset roads
MOTORISTS should expect "considerable delays" in Dorset this morning due to an abnormal load.
Dorset Police is urging people to allow extra time for journeys due to an abnormal load which is expected to cause considerable delays on the roads this morning (Wednesday, March 23).
The load will leave Osprey Quay on Portland at around 10am, travelling along the A354, onto the A35 toward Poole, finishing in New Quay Road in Poole.

Dorset's business leaders discuss possibility of a direct road...
BUSINESS leaders across Dorset are calling for better transport links for the county, including a direct road linking the north and south of the county.
The road would link north to south through the county and would start at the M4 via Wiltshire, improving transport links for Dorset.
The A350 road currently runs along the west side of the county, connecting the M4 motorway in Wiltshire with Poole, but a new road could help to reduce journey times for other areas of Dorset.

A37 roadworks: Collapsed manhole cover near Yeovil
A COLLAPSED manhole cover has resulted in yet more temporary traffic lights on the A37.
The lights will be positioned just south of
Yeovil on the A37, a short distance past the left-hand turning towards Yeovil Junction railway station and close to the railway bridge.
The manhole cover, owned by BT, requires urgent repair and the
traffic lights will be in place to ensure the work can be carried out safely.

EMERGENCY services have attended a crash on the A37 between Yeovil and Dorchester overnight.
Two fire appliances from Yeovil, along with police, were sent to the incident at Melbury Osmond at 11.53 last night (April 19), according to the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.

REPORTS are coming in of a crash on the A303 near Chard today (May 15).
Early reports indicate that the crash occurred on Hamley Lane at Buckland St Mary at around 4.55pm today.

Sherborne pub responds to A30 roadworks with 'pop-up beer garden'
THE owner of a
Sherborne pub has answered the challenge of roadworks by creating what he calls "Britain's first pop-up beer garden" in the street.
Ian Blackmore, landlord of The Crown Inn on Greenhill,
warned he may have to close the pub due to the closure of the A30 near his business.
